"Walking" by Diane Mayr
Here is the first in my month-long series of poem videos created by my TWU graduate students who are studying poetry for children. Each student chose a poem from HOP TO IT: POEMS TO GET YOU MOVING (because the poets in this anthology give their permission for poetry promo) and made an original video interpreting their chosen poem. It's always so fun to see what they come up with. Here's our first installment-- one of my favorites!
Mary Lee is hosting our Poetry Friday fun this week. Head on over to A Year of Reading RIGHT NOW for lots more poetry wonderfulness!
Dawn M. did such an outstanding job here! This is a real tribute to Diane Mayr's poem; it builds on her message in a way that will resonate with everyone (kindergartners to university students).
I love this video. My favorite part is that it has the text under the images all the way through, and then at the end, ALL the text on one slide, so as the teacher you can pause it and read the whole thing through again with the students.
Like other years, this is going to be much fun for teachers to share with their students, in both fun & serious ways. Diane's poem is wonderful, a call to help, for action in the best way - together! I agree with Mary Lee, Well done, Dawn!
Love Diane's powerful poem which speaks from her heart, and the energy created and emanating from the video. This is a dynamic tool for students. Thanks for sharing it, I look forward to seeing more of the poem-videos created!

Both the poem and video are so hopeful!

I really appreciate the choice of images to go with the poem--Dawn put a lot of work in! Thanks for this series, Sylvia!
